Al Doggett "Sketches, Drawings, and Paintings" is a unique occasion to experience, and celebrate 30 years of the works produced by the Al Doggett Studio. Opening its doors in 1967, Al Doggett Studio has served the community of Seattle, providing commissioned paintings, sketches, drawings, commercial art services in illustration, graphic art, fine art photography & photographic retouching.
Al Doggett "Sketches, Drawings, and Paintings" Exhibit will feature a number of preliminary working drawings, sketches, experimental works, and paintings in a variety of media, many of which have never been seen before by the general public. This one time exhibit is welcomed by all, from the "studied collector" to the "casual eye".
"I intend to reintroduce myself to the community through this exhibit"… "Going forward my work will be dedicated to fine art pieces, and commissions". The "Sketches, Drawing and Paintings" exhibit is a prelude to a new series of paintings I am currently working on titled "Family and the African Connection." My goal is to have this series completed by late 2008. The current exhibit gives me the opportunity to release some of the works that I have done over the past thirty years.

| | Curator's Statement The logistics of developing and exhibition are complex. The curator must begin with an idea of what the purpose of the exhibition is, and from there work with the artist and the individual pieces of art to build a structure.
This exhibition, Al Doggett: Sketches, Drawings and Paintings, was assembled, from a collection of many years of work, to reflect the diversity and distinction of Al’s work during the last thirty years. Al is a seasoned artist with an established reputation in the commercial art field, and he is now poised to assume his long overdue position as a fine artist. This show reflects his rigorous exploration of and dedication to his own aesthetics; solidly based in realism, representation and cultural heritage.
Al’s investigation will continue, with a new series of works, that will examine the connection of the Black family to it’s African roots. These new works, two of which will preview at this event, will be ready for exhibition some time in 2008.
